Conduct
The following are unacceptable and will not be tolerated:
All
forms of bias including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual preference,
disability, national origin, and creed as demonstrated through
verbal and written communication and physical acts.
Failure
to comply with directions of institutional officials acting in the
performance of their duties. Violation of the law on school
premises in a way that affects the school community's pursuit of
its proper educational objectives.
Administrative
Grades
Student had withdrawn from course and has notified the
administration office as per school policy. No
credit is given for any course from which a student has
withdrawn.
Indicates satisfactory completion of equivalent course work
completed at another institution. It does not
enter into calculation of the cumulative GPA.
Advanced Placement. Received satisfactory grade
on advanced placement exam for this course. It
does not enter the calculation on the cumulative
GPA. Medical Waiver for Physical Arts courses
approved by Dean/Director.
An incomplete may be given to any student who has failed to
complete the necessary course work and/or other academic
assignments for reasons approved by the instructor.
Academic Probation and
Dismissal
DHI encourages students to take every appropriate action necessary
to ensure academic success. Students whose
academic performance is below the required standards are notified
and may be placed on academic probation with a reduced course load
to enable them to maintain satisfactory academic
progress. Academic dismissal occurs only when
there is not further possibility of academic success as determined
by the Dean of students.
Academic Probation
At the end of each term, any student whose cumulative GPA is below
2.0, or who did not satisfy DHI attendance policy for the semester
will be placed on academic probation for the following semester.
Academic Dismissal
Students who fail to achieve a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and/or
are in non-compliance with DHI attendance policy will be dismissed
from the program.
Attendance Requirements
DHI expects all students to attend all classes during the period
enrollment. Absence from class may affect the
student’s final grade. Attendance records are
maintained by faculty members and academic
departments. Attendance requirements and
permission to complete missed course work and examinations will be
at the discretion of the appropriate academic
department. Absences for religious observance
will be excused. However, students are
responsible for missed course work.
Absences
Students are marked
absent if they do not attend class, or arrive after the mid-point
of class, or leave without instructor approval before class is
dismissed. Strict attendance records will be kept.
